Fully Remote

Johnson Controls is a global leader in building automation and industrial systems, operating across dozens of countries with complex, multi-layered logistics networks. To gain clearer visibility into transportation costs and SKU management, the decision was made to bring in external analytical expertise, not for a lengthy engagement, but for focused, well-founded insights that could be acted upon immediately.

The underlying challenge will be familiar to many organisations: the data exists, but the internal capacity and specialist knowledge to translate it into actionable conclusions quickly is scarce. In logistics, where numerous variables interact, that gap is a genuine constraint.

The challenge
Johnson Controls needed a senior specialist capable of rapidly interpreting complex transport and SKU data, building scenario models, and communicating findings clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders, all within a tightly scoped timeframe.

Blackbear's role
The scope of the engagement was defined with precision: clear deliverables, phased milestones, and a well-matched profile. Blackbear identified a senior logistics analyst with demonstrable experience in comparable industrial settings. With the structure of the collaboration established upfront, result-oriented and milestone-driven, both sides were able to work effectively from the outset.

Result
Three to four detailed logistics analyses were delivered, each accompanied by scenario modelling and quantified recommendations. Johnson Controls now has a well-substantiated foundation for making informed decisions on transportation cost reduction and SKU process optimisation.
