Knowledge Transfer

Multiple Teams

Heijmans is one of the Netherlands' largest construction and infrastructure companies, operating across disciplines from residential building to technical installations. Within the design teams for electrical and mechanical engineering, there was a growing need to automate repetitive tasks using Dynamo scripting in Revit, but internal capacity to address this in a structured way was limited.

The workload was there, the appetite was there, but knowledge was fragmented. Existing scripts were not being maintained effectively, and new automation requirements continued to go unaddressed.

The challenge
The design teams needed someone who could both develop scripts hands-on and transfer existing automation knowledge to internal staff, so that the organisation could continue developing independently once the engagement ended.

Blackbear's role
Working closely with Heijmans, the scope was defined from the outset with knowledge transfer as a core deliverable, not an afterthought. Blackbear identified a specialist with demonstrable Dynamo expertise and the communication skills needed to work effectively across teams with varying technical backgrounds. The professional was engaged on a flexible basis — ranging from one day per week to full capacity, and worked hybrid from the Rosmalen office. Blackbear maintained oversight throughout to ensure both delivery and handover met expectations.

Result
New and improved Dynamo scripts were delivered in line with the functional requirements of the design teams. Through structured documentation and direct knowledge transfer, multiple teams at Heijmans are now equipped to maintain and build on the automation work independently.
