Do I need to live in the Netherlands to find projects as a freelancer?
Blackbear is currently accessible to professionals residing in EU countries. You can sign up for free and explore our platform at any time. However, please note that the blackbear platform is not yet available to professionals outside the EU. Please subscribe to our waiting list during sign-up if you want to know when we'll be available in your area.

How do I get paid?
You either work at an hourly rate or at a fixed price. If you work on an hourly basis, payments are made monthly, after your submitted hours are approved by the client. If you work on a fixed price basis, you get paid for each milestone deliverable, also after client approval.
In your agreement, it's clearly defined how many hours you need to make or what needs to be delivered.

How do I get selected for a project?
Once your profile is completely verified, you can start looking for suitable projects. At the same time, we proactively invite you if we believe you are a good fit. A match is made based on specialization and fit with the scope. No standard CV roulette.
When applying to a project, you should provide a well-thought answer to the following questions in your proposal:
Why are you the most suitable professional for the project to be done?
What are your own ideas regarding the project?
After sending your proposal, your profile and proposal will be reviewed by our team first, followed by the hiring manager of the client.
All applicants will be notified if they are selected or rejected, with clear substantiation.

How long does it take to get paid?
After you submit your deliverable or hours, you can choose how quickly you want to get paid.
Each payout option has a different processing time. The processing time begins as soon as the client approves your completed hours or delivered milestone. Faster payments include a small fee, which is deducted from your total payout.
Each client has a up to 10 business days to approve. -
How do I find projects that match my profile?
You can log into to the platform, view the available projects and apply for the ones you believe are the right candidate for. We also proactively match candidates based on specialization, experience, and availability. You can also receive notifications about newly listed projects.

What is the typical project duration?
We offer short-term projects, lasting a couple of weeks, and mid-term projects that take up to a few months. The timeframes are always specified upfront in the project description.

Can I work on multiple projects simultaneously?
Yes, you’re free to work on several projects as long as you can keep up. Just be aware, proper time management is essential when handling multiple projects.

How is feedback handled if the client isn’t satisfied?
If a client isn't satisfied, we will mediate first. You always have the opportunity to adjust your work based on feedback provided by clients or the other way around.

Do I need to pay taxes or handle invoices myself?
We handle the invoicing and process payments. You are responsible for declaring your earnings to the appropriate authorities for tax purposes at the right time. We will assist you whenever you need guidance with this.
