Vanderlande is a global provider of automated logistics systems for airports, parcel distribution, and warehousing. Sustainability is a core part of the company’s strategy, structured around four clearly defined missions: Zero Carbon Footprint, Circular Economy, Good Business, and Fulfilling Experience.

Turning those ambitions into something measurable was the real challenge. Without a clear KPI structure, sustainability remains difficult to steer, communicate, and benchmark against external standards.

The challenge
Vanderlande needed a structured KPI set aligned with its four sustainability missions, grounded in recognised frameworks such as GRI, and clear enough to communicate across the organisation.

Blackbear's role
Blackbear helped define the assignment around a clear combination of needs: knowledge of GRI standards, the ability to translate strategic themes into concrete indicators, and a strong sense of visual communication. Based on that scope, an external specialist was engaged and the collaboration was structured with clear milestones and feedback moments.

Result
The result was a set of five polished one-pagers: four with KPI sets for each mission and one overarching summary for stakeholder communication. All recommendations were substantiated with references to GRI and other leading sustainability standards, and tailored to Vanderlande’s specific context.
