NRF places a strong focus on operational quality. When several procurement processes required attention at the same time, spanning strategy development, supplier selection and compliance monitoring, there was a clear need for someone who could integrate quickly and contribute from day one.
Procurement touches multiple departments at once. That breadth makes it difficult to safeguard quality, timelines and regulatory compliance without dedicated expertise, especially when internal capacity is stretched.
The challenge
NRF needed targeted support to manage and improve a range of procurement processes. The scope covered both operational execution and strategic guidance, with strong attention to compliance requirements and effective stakeholder alignment.
Blackbear's role
Blackbear worked with NRF to define what procurement expertise was needed, at what capacity and with which priorities. Based on that scope, a specialist was engaged with relevant experience in comparable organisations and a strong background in stakeholder management and regulatory frameworks. The assignment was structured for immediate impact, with clear milestones and knowledge transfer built in from the outset.
Result
The identified procurement processes were supported and documented throughout the agreed period. Concrete improvements were made and relevant knowledge was transferred to designated NRF team members, leaving the organisation well positioned to continue independently.
