Building an ESG policy foundation for CSRD compliance

Five ESG policy documents were developed for AmbaFlex, focused on circularity and labour conditions in the supply chain. The set is ready for internal approval and aligned with ESRS/VSME and CSDDD requirements.

Approach

Analysis to validation

AmbaFlex develops and manufactures spiral conveyors for intralogistics applications worldwide. After completing a Double Materiality Assessment and an EcoVadis review, the company identified clear gaps in its ESG policy framework, especially around circularity and labour conditions in the value chain.

Those findings created a clear next step. Translating assessments and scores into concrete policy documents is specialist work, particularly when the output also needs to align with emerging regulatory frameworks.

The challenge
AmbaFlex needed a coherent set of policy documents aligned with ESRS/VSME and CSDDD, while keeping the scope focused on policy foundations only. KPI frameworks, reporting and implementation in the supply chain were deliberately kept outside the assignment.

Blackbear's role
Blackbear helped define the brief clearly upfront, including what the assignment would and would not cover. That kept the scope from expanding into adjacent areas such as supplier training or CSRD reporting. Within that frame, the work was structured around analysis of existing DMA and EcoVadis material, drafting the separate policies, stakeholder review and final delivery.
