Building an ESG policy foundation for a manufacturing scale-up

Five ESG policy documents were developed for AmbaFlex, aligned with ESRS/VSME and CSDDD requirements. They directly addressed gaps identified in the Double Materiality Assessment and EcoVadis review.

5 approved policies

AmbaFlex is an international manufacturer of spiral conveyors for the intralogistics sector, with a growing footprint and an international supply chain. As ESG expectations increased, the company needed a more solid policy basis to support its position towards customers, partners and future regulation.

Earlier assessments had already made the issue visible. The Double Materiality Assessment and EcoVadis review showed that formal policy around circularity and labour standards in the value chain was still missing, making further reporting and certification harder to build on.

The challenge
AmbaFlex needed a coherent set of ESG policy documents that aligned with CSRD/VSME and CSDDD requirements, but did not want the assignment to expand into implementation or reporting architecture. The real need was clear, readable policy that could be used internally right away.

Blackbear's role
Blackbear helped define the scope tightly from the start. The focus stayed on drafting the policy documents themselves, not on implementation, training or external disclosure. From there, the work was structured around analysing the existing DMA and EcoVadis material, developing the separate documents and reviewing them in phases so the final output could be approved without rework.

Result
AmbaFlex now has a complete and approved set of ESG policy documents ready for internal sign-off and stakeholder communication. The documents close the previously identified gaps and provide a practical base for future measurement, EcoVadis reassessment and possible certification.
