NRF is an organisation that places a high premium on operational quality. When several procurement processes simultaneously demanded attention — spanning strategy development, supplier selection and compliance monitoring, the need arose for someone who could integrate seamlessly and contribute from day one.
Procurement touches multiple departments at once. That breadth makes it particularly difficult to maintain quality, timelines and regulatory adherence without dedicated expertise, especially when internal capacity is stretched.
The challenge
NRF required targeted support in managing and optimising a range of procurement processes. The scope covered both operational delivery and strategic guidance, with close attention to compliance requirements and effective engagement of internal stakeholders.
Blackbear's role
Blackbear worked with NRF to define precisely what procurement expertise was needed, at what capacity and with which priorities. A specialist was identified with a proven track record in comparable organisations and a strong background in stakeholder management and regulatory frameworks. The engagement was structured to ensure immediate impact, hybrid working arrangements, clear milestones and knowledge transfer to NRF staff built in as a core deliverable from the outset.
Result
The identified procurement processes were supported and documented throughout the agreed period. Concrete improvements were recorded and relevant knowledge transferred to designated NRF staff, leaving the organisation well-positioned to continue independently.
