Hitachi Construction Machinery operates internationally with a workforce spread across multiple departments and reporting lines. For the HR team, monthly headcount reporting was a recurring requirement, but producing those reports took significant manual effort and left room for mistakes.
The issue was not the lack of data, but the lack of structure. Every reporting cycle depended on combining multiple exports by hand, without a consistent setup for validation or visualisation.
The challenge
The organisation needed a reusable reporting template that could generate monthly headcount insights from HR export files, support filtering by department and automatically catch errors or duplicate entries. At the same time, the setup had to remain flexible enough to move with changes in organisational structure.
Blackbear's role
Blackbear helped define the scope clearly at the outset. The assignment focused on building a template based on existing export files, without expanding into live integrations with HR or payroll systems. From there, the work was structured around analysing the manual process, developing the dashboard logic, building in validation and preparing the output for handover to the HR team.
Result
Hitachi Construction Machinery now has a reusable headcount dashboard that generates monthly HR reports without manual consolidation. Automated validation reduces reporting errors, and the output can be used directly for both internal and external stakeholders.
