Building an AI chatbot for acute psychiatric care professionals
An AI-driven chatbot was developed and deployed within Microsoft 365 for approximately 400 professionals in acute psychiatric care. The solution gives fast access to relevant work information and was built for broader organisational rollout.

Approach
Build and handover
GGZ Drenthe is a major provider of mental healthcare in the Dutch province of Drenthe. Within its acute psychiatric care services, around 400 professionals work in an environment where timely access to the right information is essential.
The information was already available inside the organisation, but not in a way that was easy to search at the moment it was needed. That created a clear opportunity for a more practical digital solution within the tools staff already used.
The challenge
GGZ Drenthe wanted a chatbot that would help professionals find relevant internal guidance quickly and accurately, integrated into the existing Microsoft 365 environment and designed in a way that could later scale to other parts of the organisation.
Blackbear's role
Blackbear helped define the scope clearly upfront. The focus was on delivering a functional V1 within Microsoft 365, while manual digitisation of documentation and integration with the electronic patient record remained outside scope. From there, the work was structured around requirements gathering, development, testing and handover, with privacy, security and scalability built into the trajectory from the start.
Result
GGZ Drenthe now has a working AI chatbot in its Microsoft 365 environment that helps acute care professionals access relevant information more quickly. The solution is documented, scalable and set up for expansion to other departments without starting over.
